What is the purpose of having a good “Starter”?

Times are gone when we had to face bad weather conditions while trying to start our engine with a crank. Starters are no new inventions even if they have gradually technically evolved for the last 40 years.

Nowadays, starters are electric motors that allow engines to start. To turn over the engine, starters require a huge electric current coming from the battery which means that you should have a powerful battery. Starters are activated as soon as the key is in contact.

How to diagnose starter’s issues?

• First of all, it is important to verify that your battery is well charged as this may have an impact on your starter’s performances. If your battery has not enough power, it may cause your starter to not have enough power to start,
• Your engine will not crank or takes too long to crank,
• Your starter keeps running without turning over,
• Your starter spins but your engine will not crank.

Above are some issues often found as showing an issue. Changing a starter is not difficult. However, you must be sure of the cause so as not to change a part that is still performing well. We recommend you to ask advices to a mechanics before purchasing any parts.
